San Diego Mylar Shrimp (Uploaded from: Norman Orida)
The San Diego Mylar Shrimp is a versatile weighted fly with proven effectiveness for a wide variety southern California surf species including corbina, surfperch, yellowfin and spotfin croakers, halibut, guitarfish, leopard sharks, stingrays, and white seabass.
Recipe: * Red monocord 3/0 thread (Danville or other) * Mustad 34007 hook, #6-1/0 or equivalent * Gold 5/32 brass eyes (nickel works, too) * Leadcore line (12# Cabela's or other brand. I suggest 12# since it is pliable and easy to work with. 0.015" lead wire can substitute.) * Cream colored Betts Standard Z-Lon or cream-colored craft fur. (Z-Lon is very expensive and craft fur is an acceptable substitute.) * Red Grizzly Leggs (actually red with black flecking, Spirit River) * Black pearl Krystal Flash * Red Holographic Mylar Motion 1/32" (Spirit River)
