Ghost Shrimp (Uploaded from: Doug Martin)
I started off the season casting to corbina with this fly tied to imitate the ghost shrimp found on the bottom of local harbors and bays. They responded favorably up here in Oxnard! Had my best morning yet with 4 takers and a lot of interest. The marabou really shrinks down and the weight at the bend of the hook gives it a surprising wiggle when given short strips in rapid succession. Keep it on the bottom. I use an 18' - 6 lb flat mono leader and a floating line. Check out Richard Jacobsen's article "Corbina on the Fly" on the Tactics page! Hook: Mustad 34007 #6 - #4 Thread: Danville 0/3 orange Eyes: Red barbell eyes Top Wing: Tan marabou Body: Tan and light orange wrapped Shell: Clear latex
