The Electric Deceiver by Al Quattrocchi
STEP 1: Begin by tying in a small clump of bucktail at the bend of the hook. Pinch the material between your fingers and by using the tension of the thread alow the bucktail to wrap completely around the shank. Add a few strands of pearl flashabou over the top and repeat one more time tapering the bucktail as you move forward.
STEP 2: Cut a peice of large diameter mylar tubing, remove rope core and measure up against the fly. Tie in at the middle of the material. Allow for extra material which we will flare out and fold back.
STEP 3: Lay first peice of mylar tubing into position, tie down, flare out the front section.
STEP 4: Bring thread to front of material, fold back and tie down.
STEP 5: Repeat steps 2,3 and 4 until you reach the eye of the hook. Make sure you vary the lengths of mylar as you move forward. They should gradually get smaller to acheive a tapered profile.
STEP 6: Trim the fly by getting rid of any loose ends.
STEP 7: Finish the fly by adding color and eyes which will bring the pattern to life.
