orange ultra shrimp (Uploaded from: Kim Zetterberg)

The orange ultra shrimp is a variation of Bob Popovic's famous pattern, which the surf perch in our area seem to find appealing.  It can also be tied in other florescent colors; noteably in red, pink, and chartreuse; to entice these hungry little guys.  Hook sizes 4-6 are ideal, as our sand shrimp rarely exceed 2" in length.  Don't be afraid to experiment with different colors for your underbodies, eyes, crystal flash, or ultrahair - some days more natural shades are productive, and other days it's lots of color and flash that gets the job done.  The pattern can also be tied with weed guards.
